A Musician, Multi-instrumentalist, Songwriter, Grammy Winner, Musical Director – add Entrepreneur, Visionary and now Artist to the mix, and these multi-hyphenates only begin to reveal the vibrant creative realms of Printz Board.
From the age 10, Printz picked up the trumpet, “Cause I knew I’ll be able to sling that on my back and then make it do what it do,” he remembers. As a trumpeter, he explored the vast parameters of jazz and music that instigated his journey from his hometown of
Relocating to San Diego State College, he had to decide a career between music and soccer – and added the classical greats, Rachmaninoff, Mendelssohn, Debussy and Stravinsky to his eclectic mix of musical influences. “All the classical stuff that made me spin me round.” Migrating to
To the millions of BEP fans around the world, Printz has been an essential part of the ingredients in this monumental, hit-making machine and groundbreaking juggernaut. Printz was the co-writer of such signature smashes like “Where is the Love,” “Don’t Phunk with My Heart,” and “Meet Me Halfway,” onstage, Printz is the musical director commanding the band’s colossal 85,000 capacity, live stadium shows. “If we have to take a left turn on stage, I have to coordinate and facilitate this. I’m internally making sure that all the parts inside the clock are working,” he explains.
As a songwriter, producer and musician, Printz contributes to an extensive spectrum of artists including; Chris Brown, Dr. Dre, Fergie, Natasha Bedingfield, Sheryl Crow, Macy Gray, Selena Gomez, Katy Perry to name a few. “um, you know, I’m not good at gassing myself up but, the list does go on…”
In 2001, he founded his production company Beets & Produce, Inc. and has enlisted a dedicated creative team working in music, films, TV and commercials. Recently, he has expanded Beets & Produce Inc, into a progressive multi-media entertainment hub which now encompasses Talent Management, Music Publishing, Record Label and New Media with various new artists and projects in development.
However, 2013, will see Printz Board in a very different light. Instead of being the guy behind the scenes, he will now be the front man by releasing his debut solo artist album, entitled Board Games. Currently, he’s in the studio, making those final tweaks and fine-tuning all the songs whilst the Beets & Produce team is gearing up for the releases of two smoldering singles “#1” and “Hey You” in time for the summer. Printz describes his debut album as “…a romantic comedy, built around my life experiences, It is definitely ‘my movie.’” He says the sonic travelogue “…embodies
Peas fans will appreciate the hook-heavy song craft and funkier-than-thou beats. Printz anoints these hypnotic sounds with a left of center freshness and a striking originality.
During Printz’s down time, he enjoys fishing and is an avid movie fan, “I got my bowling ball in my car, always too. I like normal people stuff.” That said, observing, absorbing and engaging in modern culture is crucial to his creative vision. “People ask me why I go out five nights a week. It’s because I live in Los Angeles, where there is always something going on, but I’m studying the lifestyle, the fashion, the movement and I can see the society and the community I’m giving my music to. For me as an artist, I want to stay in front of the times.”

@KarliHenriquez - Ginny Blackmore "Bones"
Where in the world has my time gone?! I’ve been at KIIS FM for a couple months and I don't understand what I've done in that time. Well, yeah I do. But it's just been an entire whirlwind. Every week comes and goes, whether I’m ready or not. Ahhh, but I’ve been ready.
This week we celebrated Julie Pilat‘s birthday. So much cake and so much sugar. It was awesome though.
Karli was hosting the #weekendmixtape with Julie and she snagged a mariachi to come down and sing Julie some mañanitas for her birthday! The performer Alex Jacke also brought her a cake and flowers! I know it definitely took her by surprise.
Although everyone seemed to be chill, the whole day took me by surprise too! I was on my way to KIIS when I get a txt from Karli.
“Find a mariachi, let’s make it happen compa”
Well, I was on the freeway (not on my phone) looking for a mariachi band with NO luck. I had to fill out online forms and leave messages. Sure enough Karli came through and found the right guys!
We had to make sure they were under the radar. We couldn’t have them just prancing around
in the building. So we hid them on one of the floors downstairs. They were hiding in a room with their trumpets and guitar… just hanging out … trying to be as secretive as they could be. But in all honesty, it was like hiding Taylor Swift in the office… someone would find her!
The game plan was to load in the guest winners and then claim that I had a “disturbed
stomach” and needed to step away from the show. But in the meantime, I was actually running down and grabbing the mariachi, cake and flowers, as well as Jacke.
Winners were loaded and my lie was in full effect. All was working perfectly, except I
had a brain fart and couldn’t remember what floor the Mariachi was on. I literally had 3 minutes tops before it was time to present the artist with the mariachi and cake. OHHHHH MANNNN! I forgot about the artist. And at this point I was already in the elevator!
Bing. The doors opened; low and behold there was the mariachi band. I clicked my way to the top floor. Raced around corners with the band behind me and somehow managed to get Jacke just as the door cracked opened!
Music went off, cake was in the air and all went well at the Weekend Mixtape: Birthday Edition! I seriously cannot, have another brain fart like that again otherwise I’ll look like a fool. So let’s keep it between us! Enjoy your weekend!
