It has always been a trend for celebrities to indulge in the prestige of owning a winery or vineyard. Whether it’s for their own personal use, or to use their name as a selling tool, the wine industry seems to be another line of business many celebrities are trying to cross over. In the wake of my “celebrities & wine” research I stumbled upon a few familiar faces, which I adore, and wanted to share their latest ventures in wine. While there were others I couldn’t help but wonder if some artists should stick to what they know? I’ll let you decide. XO
Whether you know her from her breakout role at the age of seven as Gertie in Steven Spielberg’s, E.T. Extra Terrestrial or as one of Charlie’s Angels, Drew Barrymore has surly made her name in the entertainment industry. She’s an actress, producer, director and now a winery owner. In honor of her family roots, Barrymore has created a dry and fruity Pinot Grigio from the Triveneto region of Italy (northern).

Miss Fergie, the lead singer of the popular Grammy award winning group, Black Eyed Peas, has taken to the vines with her father, a viticulturalist, to create Ferguson Crest Vineyards in honor of her family heritage. Nestled in the highest point of Slovang overlooking the Santa Ynez Valley, Ferguson Crest can be found bottling Syrah, Cabernet, Viognier and their signature label Fergalicious (Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon blend).
Dave Matthews: Dreaming Tree Wines,

Another musician that has found success off the stage and on the vineyards is the lead singer of the Dave Matthews Band, Dave Matthews himself. He’s produced the label Dreaming Tree (named after one of his most popular albums) with co-conspirator Steve Reeder as another creative outlet. Their red blend, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon derive from the Alexander Valley with down to earth, approachable characteristics. For these two men their passion for making wine is just as strong as their passion for drinking it.
Dan Aykroyd: Dan Aykroyd Wine, Ontario, Canada

Comedian, Actor and now winemaker; Dan Aykroyd has come a long way since his Saturday Night Live, Blues Brothers, and Ghostbusters days. He’s now teamed up with his favorite winemakers from around the world to create a series of regionally inspired wines. With nine varietals and counting, Aykroud means business.

Little Jonathan Winery was establishes in 2006… and I’ll let one of the most respected wine bloggers, Steve Heimoff take it from here with his article “When Rap Stars Do Wine.” Thank you Mr. Heimoff for being so eloquent with you choice of words.
