September is officially here and I can’t help but be inspired by the current back-to-school trends. Though my school days are far behind me (cue nostalgic sigh) I think everyone can learn a thing or two about academic inspired garb.

School girl no longer equates to sweater, plaid mini skirt and pig tail braids á la Britney Spears in Baby One More Time (thank God). When I think back-to-school I think fresh start, classic cuts and no-fuss outfits that allow the busy bees and book worms to go about their days looking sharp and stress-free.

Emma Watson always looks effortlessly put together. Here she’s mixing textures and patterns, which make for a comfortable laid back look that can take you from day-time reading to night-time drinks.

Fashion blogger Gary Pepper by Nicole Warne is wearing the ASOS Swan Print Button Down with a pair of skinnies and oxfords. This is a great transition outfit from summer to fall.

Stayed up late working or studying? Don’t have time to tend to the locks? That is why beanies were invented. Well, maybe not, but this slouch knit beanie looks great on Taylor Swift, on the go in Notting Hill. Our pick is the Nordstrom Collection Ribbed Cashmere Beret.

There is never a hair out of place (how rocking is that side braid?) on Joanna Hillman, senior fashion market editor of Harper’s Bazaar. The rugby tie-dye long sleeve and wide leg trouser, paired with comfy wedges, a leopard tote and assortment of hardware is a great way to mesh masculine with feminine.

Suddenly homework doesn’t sound so bad… only if I get to look this good doing it.
