Then we spoke with Leigh Curran from The Virginia Avenue Project. The Virginia Avenue Project is a free, after-school program using the performing arts in conjunction with one-on-one mentoring to help children, ages 6-18, think creatively, critically and confidently about their lives. Through an on-going sequence of arts and academic programs, Project kids work in collaboration with adult mentors to develop life skills and give voice to their creativity. Plus they have a great event next week called “Just Desserts.” It is their One-on-One Program. An adult writer/performer writes a short play for a Project kid that has a dessert or a comeuppance in it or both. Eight adult/child teams rehearse their plays during a week away in Ojai then return to
