I just spent a week on the road doing press/promo with my favorite band, Hedley.

We had a blast but also worked hard, and did a lot of traveling. We ended the busy week in Portland, OR where I was able to do one of my absolute favorite workouts, KAYAKING. Luckily, my brother is the TOP award winning kayak fishing guide in the Northwest, so I couldn't wait to get there.

Our kayak adventure was beyond amazing. We spent hours on the river, ending at sunset. Not only was it peaceful, calming, rejuvenating and serene, but an INSANE workout for my legs. They are still sore. My brother, Michael Rischer is sponsored by Hobie, so we were able to use their state-of-the-art pedal kayaks.

You find yourself cruising down the river, controlling your speed with the effort coming from your own body. You can go fast and get your heart rate cooking or just cruise slowly and look at the sights, or both!

Some of the main health benefits from kayaking are: reduces stress, burns calories, low impact on your joints, improves cardio and lung function, tones and strengthens muscles, improves range of motion, and you get to be outside (which clears your head). There are a ton of places you can rent kayaks for the day in Southern California....it's definitely worth it!! Have fun.
