2012 is almost wrapping up and the year’s top female earners in the industry were announced today.

Surprise: Britney Spears beat out Taylor Swift by just $1 million as this year’s top earner, raking in $58 million. To recap, her album ‘Femme Fatale’ went certified platinum in the U.S. alone and the tour that followed was largely responsible for that nice chunk of change.

Rounding out the top 5 are Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry. Not a bad year for these ladies.
