American Standard

American Standard

“American Standard” is the new solo show kicking off tomorrow night by artist Edsy, also known as Pastey Whyte. If you are familiar with Edsy’s work then you know how his pieces have the ability to pull you in with a mix of familiarity and curiosity. Add this already compelling equation to a layering of visual stories of Americana and you have “American Standard”. I had the pleasure of seeing an exclusive sneak preview of the show and “American Standard” is the cherry on top of the sundae that is Edsy’s art.

“The pieces in the show are reflections on what it means to be an American in the 21st century. I hope to have achieved this by using the images and sentiments from the last century, combined with the aesthetics of the artist from the same period. Today’s constant bombardment of media is rooted in the mass advertising started with the advent of television after World War II. I am reinterpreting these early attempts to sell the “American Standard”. - Edsy

Edsy’s street art has been building to this explosive culmination of well thought out imagery. It is a nostalgic walk through iconic moments of American history that influenced the artist coupled with a twist that only Edsy could incorporate. You will be lured in by the safe and bright colors and then be smacked in the face, in the best possible way, with the underlying story waiting to be found.

“American Standard” will open to the public on June 21st at Gold Haus Gallery beginning at 7pm.
