American audiences were first made aware of the ebullient, rubber-faced Dale through his appearances in the popular British Carry On film series. In 1966, Dale's lyrics for the title tune in Georgy Girl scored a top-ten hit on American rock n' roll radio stations. Children came to know and love Dale for his work in the Disney films Pete's Dragon, Hot Lead and Cold Feet, and Unidentified Flying Oddball. He has also successfully appeared on the Broadway musical stage in Scapino and Barnum.
