Afrojack Takes Over...With Special Guest
Listen to Afrojack on iHeartRadio
Afrojack jumped on a dark stage to start his set at Jingle Ball. A soft piano line led into his signature ‘Dirty Dutch’ style of house music.
As the beat slowly built, the projector on Afrojack’s rig lit up with his name. Suddenly, the beat cut out and Afro dropped a hard bass groove into “Take Over Control” featuring Eva Simmons. He got fans out of their seats by yelling over tracks with commands like, “If you’re ready to party, L.A. make some noise!”

The set was filled with peaks and valleys that are the signature of Dutch House music. Afrojack built up the track again, bending notes, looping sounds, and punching in syncopated sirens. Before the audience had a chance to take a breath, Afrojack transitioned into will.i.am’s “This is Love.”

He kept the beat going and ordered the crowd to put their hands up in the sky. Afrojack also threw up his hands and did a modified fist pump with spirit fingers. After a few seconds, the DJ put his hands back on his rig and went into dance hits “Take Over Control” and “Can’t Stop Me” featuring Shermanology.
Afrojack had multiple surprises for his fans at Jingle Ball. The first came when he debuted “As Your Friend,” a dance track he produced for Chris Brown. The energy only picked up for the last song. Afrojack invited Pitbull on stage to perform their single, “Give Me Everything.”

Pitbull ran around the stage and jumped on top of Afrojacks DJ rig. He rapped his part of the song and pumped his hands up in the air. He then thanked the crowd and both men walked off stage. Afrojack pushed the gain on the subwoofers inside Nokia Theater and everyone felt the beat flow through their bodies. That sense of togetherness is the basis of PLUR and EDM.
