Orlando declared June 12th “Orlando United Day — A Day of Love and Kindness” in honor of the 49 victims that were murdered at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida one year ago.
On Monday morning, a large crowd of people gathered outside of Pulse Nightclub to memorialize and remember the victims of the Pulse Nightclub Shooting on its one year anniversary.
The shooting is recognized as the deadliest mass shooting in U.S history and directly targeted the LGBTQ community. At the morning service, the names of all 49 victims was read aloud and at noon throughout Orlando rang 49 times in honor of the victims. Governor Rick Scott declared that all US flags in Florida would fly at half-mast and the Orange County government building would display a massive rainbow flag in solidarity with the LGBTQ community and to honor the victims.
Hundreds of people placed flowers, cards, and artwork at the memorial sight.
