station to station | Hollywood & Highland, Hollywood
Hollywood and Highland is the Hollywood and Vine for the new millennium.

Surrounded by some of the hippest retailers, poshest restaurants and night clubs, and swankest movie palaces, this Red Line stop has everything you could want in a one-stop destination - without the hassle or cost of parking. Plus there is plenty of touristy kitsch to be lapped up by locals and out-of-towners alike, from the surly celebrity impersonators outside of Mann's Chinese Theatre to the Hollywood Wax Museum, Ripley's Believe It Or Not, and the Hollywood Guinness World of Records. Or just meander along the stars on Hollywood Blvd. and grab 5 "I Heart LA" T-shirts for $10, or a sexy tank top from Guess.

Looking for something with a little more style? Catch a show in the upscale Kodak Theatre, make a night of it at The Highlands, or party by the pool at The Roosevelt Hotel. Don't forget to hit up one of the incredible nearby restaurants including The Grill on Hollywood, Musso & Frank Grill, Koji's Sushi & Shabu Shabu Restaurant, uWink, Pig 'n Whistle, or Twist at the Renaissance Hotel & Spa. You could go upscale for dessert, or simply indulge in the strangely addictive pastries at Beard Papa.

There are so many things to do at Hollywood and Highland that you could probably make a weekend of it. Lucky for you it's close to home and only $2.50 round trip on Metro.

HOLLYWOOD WAX MUSEUM

Before reality shows, TMZ and blogs came along to expose stars at their very worst, the Hollywood Wax Museum was making sure to preserve them looking their very best. Or creepiest. Although wax idols might be an out-of-date form of celebration, this is a great place to get your fill of campy fun. Make a day of it and hit nearby Ripley's Believe It Or Not and Hollywood Guinness World of Records in the same afternoon.

LUCKY STRIKE LANES
This chain of stylish bowling alleys is spreading across the country, but the Hollywood location is the only one with original props from "The Big Lebowski." Plus, the food at this kitschy cool throwback is a cut above the average diner fare at most bowling alleys. So slip into your most stylish duds (there's a strict dress code) and strike out for a night with fun to spare! The dude abides.
