Shay Mitchell, better known as Emily on Pretty Little Liars, phoned in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest to chat about the hit ABC Family show’s upcoming Halloween special, as well as how she’s conquering the San Francisco Nike Women’s Marathon this weekend.
Shay, who we last caught up with at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, reveals that she suffered a slight wardrobe malfunction before presenting Phoenix that night.
“I had this 24-karat gold pleat piece that was at the bottom of my dress and it was peeling off … so not only was I worried about losing it and having to pay the designers back for that, I also didn’t want to have to go present with this missing piece of the dress,” the actress laughs. “[But] they had some people backstage to help me out, so it was all good.”
Another thing we learned about Shay backstage was her bond with rapper Drake. “I know him from Toronto,” the 26-year-old explains. ”I did bottle service for his 22nd birthday right before I booked the show.”
And by show, of course she means Pretty Little Liars, and we are really excited about its upcoming two-hour Halloween special, which airs on October 22.
Shay says the episode will reveal the transition into the PLL spinoff, Ravenswood, and that fans will see ”just kind of how Caleb goes over there, the whole transition from him moving from Rosewood to Ravenswood and the whole story and why he’s doing it.”
“It’s a two-hour special and our Halloween episode, which I’ve already seen, is absolutely unreal from the costumes to the set deck and it’s cool because you do see that whole movement from Caleb’s character moving from our town to a whole other town and their vibe and it gives you that interaction for what it’s going to be like for their upcoming season.”
And when she’s not filming the hit show, Shay’s been busy training for the Nike Women’s Marathon this weekend.
“I’ve always wanted to do a marathon,” she explains. “This is a 13.1-mile marathon and it’s in San Francisco. I thought if you’re going to go big, go big or go home, and let’s do San Francisco, where their are a million hills … I’ve been training [and] I think I’m ready … My goal is to really just pass that finish line, crawling, whatever [it takes], having some drag me across it — I will do it.”
The race, which includes more than 30,000 women, supports The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. For more information, click here!
