If you grew up watching Nickelodeon, you’re going to want to pick up a copy of Slimed! An Oral History of Nickelodeon’s Golden Age.
The book, which tells the surprisingly complex, wonderfully nostalgic, and impressively compelling story of how Nickelodeon began, hit shelves yesterday and reveals everything from who had a stage mom to how gak was made.
And with the forward by Double Dare host Marc Summers, we had to ask, what’s the most surprising thing we’ll learn about the iconic game show?
Marc tells us things could get pretty heated when kids were competing but the bigger problem were the parents!
“The parents always wanted their kids to do better than many of them really could so we almost had to put them in a cage and keep them away from what was going on.”
Marc adds: “It was an important part of everybody’s childhood of a particular age and I think a lot of people are going to be interested in the book.”
