Corbin Bleu is channeling his High School Musical past. The 24-year-old actor has joined pro dancer Karina Smirnoff on ABC’s hit show Dancing With the Stars and he couldn’t be more perfect for the gig.
The former Broadway star, who is well versed in dance, has already proven to be the competition to the other Season 17 contestants, which includes everyone from Bill Nye the Science Guy to Brant Daugherty and even Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi.
The dancer scored the second highest scores right out of the gate with the duo’s first performance last week. “I’m excited about that, first of all, eight is my lucky number. And we had all eights,” the actor gushes to On Air with Ryan Seacrest.
However, Corbin adds tonight’s dance might be a bit tougher. “Tonight we are doing jive, which was definitely a learning curve for me and then next week, I think we might be doing some quick step which is really out of my zone.”
Although the upcoming weeks may be daunting, Corbin admits having fellow contestants around like Bill Nye is an amazing part of the experience.
“I’m such a fan. I totally geeked out when I saw him. [I grew up watching him!]”
